CHLOE
Chloe’s parents came to Kahuna’s K9s because Chloe suffers from separation anxiety – she doesn’t feel very happy without her mom around.
We helped her with exercises that taught Chloe to be confident when mom’s not there. We even taught Chloe how to play nice with her 2 year old human sibling! Now her two-legged sister can help in her training!
Chloe will continue to gain confidence but separation anxiety is a difficult thing to work through. Her parents are dedicated to helping Chloe relax and we even learned that one of Chloe’s favorite games is hunting for food! So when mom wants to leave the room, she throws LOTS of yummy treats around for Chloe to find. Chloe doesn’t even notice mom is gone because she’s busy in the hunt!
Good luck to you Chloe – Kahuna’s K9s will be keeping in touch to make sure your life continues to get better!

Beckett
She brought hope to our family, and especially to Beckett, who’s learning how to live peaceably and cooperatively as a member of the family, while still listening to his inner dog.”
She came in, took a look at the dynamics, assessed each of Beckett’s behaviors and — very quickly – figured out how to address each one. She has an almost encyclopedic knowledge about what makes a dog tick. [no pun intended!] She has an empathy for dogs and people alike and understands that families need real-life solutions. I can’t imagine where we’d be if we hadn’t called on Erica; honestly, I think our life with Beckett would be intolerable.
Alexa and Beckett have since continued their learning and keep in touch often. Glad Kahuna’s K9s could help make life better for the entire family!!
ROCKY
As new dog owners, we did not realize that his progress after 5 weeks of obedience class had been slow, nor did we realize that the class was causing him so much stress and anxiety that he was not learning. After about 20 minutes with Erica, Rocky was reliably [lying] down, which he had never done before without us touching him. When we went to Erica, Rocky was very protective of his paws and had some food guarding issues. Erica gave us exercises for building his trust. Rocky now gladly lets us hold and clean his paws without a problem! And Rocky is now very polite and respectful of us when we Also, when we adopted Rocky he was very toy possessive. Erica devised certain exercises for us that got Rocky to release his toys to play fetch. While he is still somewhat toy possessive, we are continuing with the exercises, and fetch has become his favorite game! Lastly, there were a couple instances when Rocky lashed out at us. We immediately discussed the situation with Erica, who identified the behavior as unusual for Rocky and recommended a vet check. Sure enough, Rocky’s behavior was caused by an irritating skin infection. Needless to say, from our first meeting, Erica was very attuned to Rocky’s behavior. Thanks Erica!”
approach him while eating; instead of devouring his food as he did before, he now eats at a much slower pace and backs away from his bowl if we approach it.
With Erica’s training we were able to strengthen our bond with Rocky, establish clear boundaries, and overall made him a more obedient, happier dog.
BAILEY
This is one sweet boy! Bailey doesn’t have a mean bone in his body – all he wants to do is hang out with his family! Oh! And chase after animals on the farm! Uh-oh!
Kahuna’s K9s worked on teaching Bailey how to come back when he’s called. It’s okay with Bailey’s parents that he runs free, but they want him to come back home when it’s time to wash up for supper!
Bailey also found out it was really fun to chase and steal the Frisbee when the family was playing Ultimate Frisbee. If you’ve ever played the game, you know that a dog stealing the Frisbee doesn’t help your score! So we taught Bailey to chase the Frisbee, but instead of steal it, mark it with his paws and lie down. He really caught on!
Thanks Nancy! We look forward to hearing updates about Bailey’s continuing training!
